Tomorrow, in China starts the traditional celebration of the Mid Autumn Festival, which lasts three days. The feast is also known as the Mooncake or Moon Festival. This national holiday doesn't happen only in China but in other oriental countries too. The date might vary from year to year, as it follows the Chinese lunar calendar. So, we couldn't find a better way to join them than by featuring Colin Coffee packaging by Reesaw Studio.
Colin Coffee's kit includes, as its name implies, coffee beans and a small, cute blue cup, and of course, mooncakes. Three of them, to be precise. We're already craving for one of those. These Chinese pastries are a traditional dish during the Mid Autumn Festival while sharing a moment with family and friends staring at the moon. The creative studio came up with an innovative concept to give out as a gift. They thought of a perfectly executed branding design that includes visual identity and packaging design. Reesaw Studio's designers created a concept far from the traditional Chinese aesthetic, combining bold typography and colder colors like white or blue. The approach they were looking for was something friendlier and closer to other cultures without losing its origin. For instance, they add the Spanish word Tu, the English for you, in a typical greeting phrase, "Nice to see you!".
All in all, we love how cultures adapt and try to blend with others by incorporating relevant details from the foreign culture. Its overall appearance has a vivid aesthetic, and it seems to be part of a collection series.
