Continuing along with another artistic expression, today we're showcasing a branding project for film production. Cottage M is a Los Angeles-based independent production house focused on developing films that push the boundaries of conventional forms to tell timeless stories. Saint-Urbain was in charge of creating its visual identity.
Founded by academy award-nominated producer Shane Boris, Cottage M takes projects that other production houses would not normally take on, finding innovative and thought-provoking ways of producing films. The design team involved took Cottage M's distinct outlooks to represent their differential factor. As we're talking about perspectives, the logo design takes a complex, bidimensional shape to create an isometric view of a cottage. Moreover, the logo has an M shape. Designers combined the negative and positive spaces for it to come alive. However, the color palette is quite varied, yet it makes sense as it has some accent tones that bring back a vintage look and feel.
This complete branding has a powerful cinematographic imprint, not only for its photographs which seem to be in motion but for its lighting effects. Plus, the way Saint-Urbain managed to create the perception of a cottage with the same light and shadow effects is on point!
