Design studio, Rainfall, created the brand identity for Cotton Pine, a Seattle-based company that specializes in the sale of craft and quilting supplies. Its subtle yet elegant branding crafts an identity that reflects quality as well as expertise in craftsmanship.
The name 'Cotton Pine' was inspired by the combination of paper goods and fabric used in their business. Rainfall created a logomark with the aim of representing the organic quality of those materials as well as the earthy spirit of the Pacific Northwest.
The logomark consists of a needle and thread, which unite to take the form of a pine branch - literally forming the company's name through visual elements.
A colour palette of green tones and neutral off-white and black was selected to convey the relationship of lush rainforest to dry desert, the two climates in Washington State.
