Crudo

Daniel Ligero was responsible for the graphic identity and naming for the exhibition of David Umemoto's sculptural work, Crudo. The work of sculptor is the result of a natural process and abstract language using geometry and raw concrete material as artistic expression. How not to dedicate a space to such a mysterious and beautiful work?

David Umemoto's concrete works are built as studies on volume. As a union of culture and architecture, these miniature pieces evoke temporary buildings or monuments found in distant lands. The images refer to the archaic and the ephemeral, in spite of the solidity and modernity of the solidity and modernity of the medium. Before our pre-Columbian cave dwellings appeared before our eyes, statues of gods from the Andes or Easter Island, deteriorated by rain, vestiges of modern cities that have survived a catastrophe, fragments of biblical Babylonian cities, collapsed colonial settlements that have been demolished, cenotaphs abandoned in the jungle.
