No matter if it’s children's books, political themes, surreal impressions, or food and cooking – illustrations cover an immense field. In this issue, Grafikmagazin focuses on illustration and shows very different approaches. Whether it's black and white minimalism or colorful overkill, there seems to be no limit to the creativity of illustrators worldwide.
One subtle but intriguing example is the cover illustration by Anne Albert. This is a somewhat unlikely motive for a magazine cover, but because of that even more fascinating. Her composition catches this special summer feeling when everything is easy, warm, and carefree. At the same time, the motive leaves a lot of whitespace for the paper to shine through.
Another highlight of this issue is surely the paper. This issue is about feeling, emotions, and haptics! In this issue, Grafikmagazin focuses on »Illustration«, but also on sustainability. In their »Focus Packaging, « they show new concepts that combine great designs with new materials and production techniques to create packagings that work, looks good, and is eco-friendly.
On 20 pages we present illustrators from all around the world. Whether it’s illustrations for children’s books or political texts, for recipes or websites – illustrations can fill every area of life with emotion and meaning.
