Cause & Effect & Need designed Loader Monteith branding. Loader Monteith is a growing architecture firm based in Glasgow, founded by Matt Loader and Iain Monteith. With the company’s projects growing in size and stature, the founders asked Cause & Effect to create a fitting new brand.
Using the organisation’s sustainability and conservation focus, the design agency – who won SDA’s Design Agency of the Year in 2019 – looked to the tactility of sustainable materials for inspiration. Working closely with the architects, Cause & Effect collaborated with creative communications agency, Need on the project.
The identity uses visual references from every part of the design process – from sketches and 3D renders or final imagery to the Scottish landscapes and natural materials that inspire their approach. These are layered with typography in a plan-like, mono-colour system. Copper, Limestone, slate, and dark blue or grey skies were all reference points for colour – the aim to differentiate the firm from its peers with fitting, standout colours. It reflects the personality of the firm, who aren’t afraid of being bold when it’s appropriate.
Working with Form Digital, the agencies re-worked Loader Monteith’s website with a focus on user experience, highlighting the quality and consideration to detail of the firm’s work. The site also took inspiration from the architects’ ambition and growth.
