The past thirteen years in the lending industry has seen a lot of change. But one thing has remained the same – Mates Rates Mortgage Brokers putting people before profit.

Officially launching their national rebrand today, Mates Rates Mortgage Brokers is a business founded on giving back. The latest identity refresh is evidence they are serious about continuing to help out mates in need and spreading their message far and wide.

Founding owner Trent Lee talks of the harsh reality that most traditional lenders are competing for brokers’ attention, bartering commissions to try and sway them. But true to their word, Mates Rates won’t be bought. To level the playing field, Mates Rates continues to lead the charge in cash back lending.

Their cash back philosophy affords their mates, old and new, the luxury of spending more on the moments that matter, getting you ‘More For Your Back Pocket’.

Adopting a flat rate strategy that sees them paid the same, despite the differing commissions lenders use to sway. Mates Rates also ensures customers receive 100% of the trailing commission paid out by lenders - an ongoing finder’s fee. As a result of their growing success, demand for Mates Rates services has sky rocketed.

With increasing demand comes the need to adapt and do things differently. Investing in their people and systems to maintain a premium service offering was a must. Mates Rates understand they are now speaking to a newer audience ready to buy a home.

Previously, as with many brokers, Mates Rates’ branding focused on the what and the how: the facts and figures. The new personality now connects its audience to their why.

In an industry where alternatives are hard to differentiate, sometimes the best thing to do is go with a gut feeling. Using the rebrand, Mates Rates owner Trent Lee wanted to make it clear as to why they exist and why their customers should care. He feels the new brand identity has really hit the mark.

Under experienced creative direction from Sarah Louise Kinsella of Louise Agency, within two months, the fresh brand personality of Mates Rates was brought to life.

While there’s no rainbows associated with owning a mortgage, the new Mates Rates look can make them seem a whole lot prettier. “Being a crusader and innovator, I recognise it’s important to stand out in the crowd, as the Mates Rates model always has,” says Trent.

He believes the new branding authentically represents the contemporary Mates Rates, reflecting the friendly and compassionate nature of the team. From the distinctly recognisable Arlo, and fresh colours that reference Summer living, Trent suggests the updated feel instantly puts the mind at ease.
