Podium

Alex Liu & Jay Liu designed Podium. What we love about this interior design project is how lighting and materials are combined to create an atmosphere of elegance. The modernity of the furniture and the way nature is included by their selection of plants gives the place a sophisticated yet relaxed mood.

Podium is an exclusive private members clubhouse that is tailored to the horse-racing community.

Entrusted to configure a spatial plan consisting of a reception, two enclosed rooms, a bar, and an open lounge for networking with selected individuals, the studio’s design approach seeks to evoke a sense of a comforting opulence, offering a calm respite for members to share their thoughts and ideas effortlessly.

Taking references from classical English styles and contemporary Japanese principles, the open lounge is intentionally kept fluid without any built structures, forming a diverse flexible space plan, with the bar as the focal point within the precinct. Minimally lit, the club’s overall ambience is expressed through a thoughtfully curated material selection, finished with an indulgent palette of textures to illustrate a high-end yet understated design, differentiating its spatial character distinctively from the rest.

The unrestricted access to daylight established a juxtaposition of moods between the tranquil surrounding inside, and the bustling metropolitan view outside. Podium is ultimately a sanctuary for invited individuals to indulge in discussions without the restriction of time.
