Collectives, designed by Kenzo Mayama Kramarz for Quarantine Books
Quarantine Books is the outcome of a creative collaboration that took place under lockdown over the course of a month. London–based designer Kenzo Mayama Kramarz teamed up with Brazilian photographer Cássio Vasconcellos to create Collectives, a compelling visual essay on the transformative nature of these challenging times.
Vasconcellos’ compositions were painstakingly assembled through hundreds of aerial shots taken over the course of a decade. The outcome is a striking body of work, which was reinterpreted by the designer in the context of what ‘distancing’ means in pandemic times.
Quarantine Books is a series of eight publications, curated by Lucas Lenci and Andre Matarazzo. The books can be purchased at quarentenabooks.com and proceedings will support Projeto Rizoma @projeto.rizoma, which assists the most vulnerable who have been brutally affected by the Covid in Brazil.
