So, who doesn't like a grilled cheese sandwich and friendly illustrations on a Sunday evening? The Toast Office and Crown Creative bring together that glorious combo. Today's special includes logo design, identity strategy, signage and menus, website, and tons of cheese.
The Toast Office takes the Grilled Cheese sandwich so beloved worldwide and takes it to a new level with a Michelin-trained chef as operator. Cue lines around the block, rock on social media with their many cheese pull pics. The concepts of identity and traction added a unique voice to the casual dining scene in Northern Ireland.
Creatives thought of a color palette that allows the viewer; to instantly connect to Royal Mail's distinctive red mailboxes. And this connection is playfully built upon through illustrations of postage stamps and mailboxes. The use of sans serif typography took inspiration from vintage postage stamps. Plus, it gives a familiar, tactile, and nostalgic feeling. Illustrations for the concept are character-driven, with the Toast Man creating a recognizable and fun reference applied across the brand's collateral and digital communications. We imagine Toast Man's cheesy writings to his beloved one, adorable ;) Also, pun intended.
The result is visual sophistication appropriate to the area, known unofficially as Belfast’s design district. The stamp-like quality of the type mark allows for fluid integration to various applications across menus, packaging, and signage. If you find yourself in Belfast, don't doubt visiting The Toast Office, it has grilled cheese sandwiches worth queuing.
PS: rumors say a dark pint is grilled cheese's perfect match.
