For Saturday evening we are planning to uncork a bottle of wine. It's a fact. On this occasion, we bring you Wild Bunch wine label design by Matthias Warnung. It's a reinterpretation of the winemaking process. And it perfectly combines a classic layout and experimental patterns added by Lukas Diemling and Dominic Erschen.
Matthias Warnung is committed to non-conformity. The wine law, any certifications, nor the term natural wine don't restrict him. For him, there is only one way to make wine. The work that happens in the vineyard should get into the bottle as virgin as possible. His latest release, a series called Wild Bunch, is a reinterpretation of the process of winemaking. The wine labels only display a simple description of the process itself and all the needed legal information. In contrast to the simple typographic design, Lukas and Dominic created raw and wild textures overprinted in gold over the whole label. Also, they thought of a dark set that would spotlight Matthias' design and their golden intervention. Featuring dim lighting and some black background, they managed to create photographs with depth and texture.
This combination of a classic layout and the experimental patterns perfectly resamples Matthias Mission for this series: reinterpreting the process of traditional winemaking with a new alternative approach.
