Clay, a San Francisco-based UI/UX design and branding agency, undertook the redesign of the Art Bridges Foundation's website. Founded by Alice Walton, Art Bridges aims to enhance access to American art through strategic partnerships with museums and arts organizations nationwide.
The redesigned homepage features an artwork-centric slider that immediately engages users by highlighting the visual diversity of American art, encouraging further exploration of the collection. Individual artwork pages are meticulously crafted to emphasize the art pieces, minimizing extraneous site elements to evoke the ambiance of a gallery. Program pages showcase the extensive collection through a dynamic grid of high-quality previews, complemented by a search function that allows users to tailor the gallery to their specific queries.
To emphasize contemporary art, contrasting typography inspired by gallery catalogs was utilized, and the brand's color palette was expanded with new shades to better complement the diverse artworks. Additionally, an interactive map was created to showcase the broad network of partner museums across the country, providing detailed information about each one. Dedicated sections for detailed storytelling were also developed to effectively communicate program offerings and engage prospective partner museums.
