Studio Dechem – Bohemian Glass

DECHEM studio was established in Prague in 2012 by Michaela Tomiskova and Jakub Jandourek, who first met at the Novy Bor School of Glass where they developed their passion for glass artistry. Since establishing DECHEM studio they have focused on product design, maintaining a special attention to glass, exploring traditional Bohemian craft techniques and the surprising connections of its various forms. On their website, the pair elaborate on their passion for glass in their own words: 'Glass, just like people or trees, is perfectly capable of being shaped and formed. One can imprint just about anything into it, give it a form, capture a passing moment, breath a new life into it. Later it stiffens and freezes like a petrified fossil, like magma, like a witness. No one can move it. It is solid as a rock and if you urge it, it rather shatters into pieces than to surrender.'

This series, titled Bohemian Glass, features a unique range of beautifully handcrafted glassware and lighting by DECHEM studio.

The Heat Vase, available individually or in a set of three pieces, playfully depicts a glass vase in various stages of 'melting' as its product description implies - 'This is what happens when your room temperature is too high'.

This is followed by Glass Container, an elegant collection of containers that come in three unique shapes and colours - black, smokey grey, and gradient red tones.

The Bandaska Vase collection is a series of glass vases hand blown into beech wood moulds. The vases come in a range of three shapes and colours with a soft gradient.

As its name suggests, the beautiful Bandaska Vase Postmodernism collection is a tribute to Italian postmodern aesthetics, featuring unique monochrome vases with original geometric coloured glass inlays.

Artistic lighting pieces by DECHEM include the Bandaska Lamp and Bandaska Lights, glass lights made with copper, brass and anthracite coated metal parts. The lights can be suspended or free standing, and the outer glass comes in a colour series of smokey grey, crystal clear or with a colour gradient.

The final piece, appropriately titled Mr. Flame, is a luxurious glass table lamp inspired by the shape of the eternal flame, constructed with a glass base and a securely fitted lid. The hand faceted top is available in the colours amber, crystal and smokey grey glass, and the glass base comes in gold, silver and dark pearl glass with a sophisticated engraving in brass.
